His Faithfulness

First off, I want to apologize that my updates have not been frequent. I’ve really been trying to embrace and cherish every moment I’m here. I know my time in Salone (Sierra Leone) is short and it’s been a struggle for me to remember that because I love this place so much. God has shown me a glimpse into His plan for me here and I’ll explain it when there’s a definite plan. I’m so excited to see how God works in this opportunity He’s given me. Anyways, I’ll give you an update of what He’s been doing in my time here.
So here we are, Olivia (my fellow intern) and I, with only two weeks left of our internship. I’ve seen God working in the kids’ hearts, Olivia’s heart, and my heart. It’s my fourth time to Africa and my second to Salone, and it never ceases to amaze me how big our God is and how strong His love is for His people. He shows His faithfulness to these kids day in and day out. We serve such an awesome God who takes such good care of His people.
Over the last two weeks God has opened the door to have a few one on ones with the older kids and it’s been such a blessing to me. There’s been questions about one’s purpose, what it really means to be a Christian, what it looks like to deny one’s self, what is man’s purpose, why did God send Jesus, and many more. My challenge to each of our groups has been to start praying about, thinking about and applying what we’ve learned each day and these conversations have shown me that they are starting to think about it. I remember being the age of the older kids and having so many questions and not having anyone there to answer them, I was so confused for so long. I don’t want that for these kids, so if I’m able to help them better understand something, I’m there praying and asking God to let them hear what they need to hear. I told them to start thinking of questions that they wanted answers to, and they started doing it. On Friday, we’ll be discussing the Koran and the Bible so prayers for wisdom and discernment about what to say would be much appreciated. Y’all, God is so good.
This trip has been absolutely amazing, and with a little less than two weeks left, I can’t wait to see what He does in our remaining. It’s been a learning experience, a humbling experience, and a good experience. Salone is an amazing place, it has a lot of hardship, but I have so much hope for this country. Even the smallest light penetrates the darkness. Please pray with me for this country that I hold so dear to my heart. God is good and I can’t wait to see how He works in this country through the kids who are growing up here.
