Worthy?

Starting at a young age, girls are taught that boys have to be worthy of us. But I pose to you a question, are we, women, worthy of having?
Yesterday’s thoughts were interrupted by this question. Society puts emphasis on men being worthy, they must be chivalrous, kind, loving, have a stable income, and be honorable. I’m not saying those are bad things, because I definitely agree that those are good and they are very attractive. However, there is no emphasis put on the character of a woman. Society puts emphasis on a woman’s appearance, but what of her character? Proverbs 12:4 states, “An excellent wife is the crown of her husband, but she who brings shame is like rottenness in his bones.” But what is an excellent wife, or really, what is an excellent woman?
According to Romans 2:11, God shows no partiality, men and woman are equal in His sight. If this is so, then it would appear that men and women have to have the same standards. They obey the same commandments. Men and women are to obey the three main commandments that Jesus gave to them. “You love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind…You shall love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:36, 39). “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matthew 27:19-20). A biblical woman is someone who obeys these commands. She is to love God above all else, love her neighbor, and share what she has been taught and learned. All of these things already set her apart from the rest of the world. Many women think of themselves first, that’s what society teaches them. One must take of herself before she can take care of others. However, I also pose the question, how do she take care of herself? Is she reading the scriptures which teaches her to pray, and seek first the Kingdom of God, and then to go out and share? That’s the best self-care any person can ever do. A Biblical woman is someone who does not think of herself, she thinks of others, especially God first. She is someone who tries to do everything to glorify and honor God. A Biblical woman is humble, kind, and honorable. She realizes that this world, it’s not the point of it all, Jesus is the point and the center of it all. An excellent woman is a Biblical woman.
What makes a woman worthy of a worthy man? She trusts and obeys God above all else. The standards are the same. We all called to live different. Society always puts emphasis on the wrong things. I was challenged by this question and desire to strive to be worthy. How will I do so? Well, exactly what I said earlier, seek God first and obey what He has told me to do. Keep my eyes on Him and transform into who He wants me to be. Y’all, we serve such an awesome God. He gives us the opportunity to do so much for Him. He sacrificed everything for us, shouldn’t we be willing to do the same?
